My village

My village is kiralabokkagama. it is small village in the kurunegala District. This is an agricultural area. Most of the villagers. There is a vast stretch of paddy fields in my village. farmers obtain water from the village tank for their cultivation purposes. There is a dispensary, a co-operative shop, a rural bank, a sub post office and a historical temple in my village. There are several government servants too here. There is a Rural development society and a Death donation society in my village. The villagers are very friendly. Villagers live happily and peacefully. I LOVE MY VILLAGE.

My mother name is mrs: sandaya. My father job is Driving. And my mother job is house whife. I have one brother and no sister. four members in family. My native place is colombo. My mother village is matara. My father village is colombo. My hope is to become a Doctor one day. My best friend are sanjeewani and sarani and nipunika and supunni and all so. The INDEPENDENCE

Sri lanka has been able to boast of a history of thousands of years as and indetependent stape. We cound also be proud of a self sufficient economy and political autonomy. The Portuguese invaded our country in the year 1505. And the dutch began to meddle with our internal affars later we lost entire freedom as a sresult of britishers conquering the island in the year 1815. Lankans who where dissatisfieb of the british rule in the country rebelled for independence. But the rulers where heedless. As a result a great campaign was launched to rescued cur country from the ruthless britishers. F.R.senanayaka,d.s.senanayaka, d.b.jayathilaka,Arthur V.dias,Ven Battaramulla Subhuthi and piyadasa sirisena are some of the patriots who led this campaign. We obtained freedom from the British rule on 4 february,1948. Today we celebrate its golden jubilee. Sri lanka is a socialist, democratic republic now

My country is sri lanka. it is an island in the Indian ocean. it is also called the pearl of the indian ocean. This is an agricultural country. Most of the people are farmers. Our staple food is rice. There are several communities in my country. They are the sinhalese, the Tamils, the Muslims and the Burghers. The population of sri lanka is about 19 millions. Our main imports are foods, cloths and machinery. Our main exports are tea, rubber and coconuts. Our country became a Republic in 1972. We gained independence in 1948. Now we are a free nation. Sri Jayawardenpura Kotte is the capital of sri lanka. Our commercial capital is colombo. Piduruthalagala is the highest mountain and mahaveli is the longest river. We have a tropical climate. sri lanka is famous throughout the world as a tourist paradise. There are many tourist attractions here. some of them are water falls, ancient ruins, sanctuaries, sandy beaches and botanical gardens. Mr: Mahinda rajpaksha is the president of my country. The prime Minister is Mr:Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka.

vesak festival

Vesak is the most important religious festival to buddhists. it is held in the mouth of may every year. It marks three important events in the life of lord buddha. They are the birth, the enlightenment and the passing away of lord buddha.We observe “sil” on this day. we also listen to sermons and other religious talks. we decorate our houses with vesak lanterns and other decorotions. we also illuminate our houses with goloured bulbs.pandais are erected at bublic places. we go on pilgrimages to sacred places. All these actspurify our thoughts. special religious programmes are implemented too areheld. Let us live happily in peace and harmany on this important day.
